The client initially engaged Matrix to support the development of a temporary facility, intended to maintain operations while the existing LNG tank was taken offline for inspection, repairs, and modernization to meet current codes and standards.
Matrix conducted a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study covering both the temporary facility and the planned upgrades to the existing infrastructure. During the FEED phase, Matrix collaborated closely with the client to evaluate alternatives that would reduce outage duration and eliminate the need for a temporary facility. Based on this analysis, the temporary facility was removed from the overall project scope.
In the subsequent phase, Matrix conducted comprehensive LNG facility assessments, including external tank inspections, fitness-for-service evaluations, and the development of detailed inspection plans for inner tank integrity assessments. Matrix also provided engineering and design services for facility modernization, encompassing upgrades to the LNG tank, boil-off gas management systems, electrical infrastructure, and instrumentation. These efforts were focused on enhancing the facility’s safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
