In June 2023, the client engaged Matrix in response to concerns raised by their jurisdictional authority regarding the structural integrity of a nearly 50-year-old LNG storage tank. Matrix initiated the project with a comprehensive review of existing facility documentation, including as-built drawings and operational records, to help the client better understand potential integrity risks.
Subsequently, Matrix conducted a detailed LNG tank integrity assessment, which encompassed external inspections, fitness-for-service evaluations, and engineering design for retrofit modifications. These efforts were aimed at enhancing the safety, reliability, and operational performance of the existing LNG storage infrastructure while ensuring full compliance with current codes and regulatory standards.
In addition to the tank assessment, Matrix provided targeted support to address client concerns related to excessive tail gas and boil-off gas generation during liquefaction. Through root cause analysis, Matrix successfully identified the underlying issues and delivered actionable recommendations to optimize operational efficiency.
