Matrix, through our operating companies, has become the leading designer and builder of large thermal vacuum chambers, with over half of the large, field erected thermal vacuum chambers in the United States having been designed by Matrix PDM Engineering.
Matrix PDM has been involved in the design of more than 70 large vacuum chambers, most of which contained thermal systems, for aerospace companies and government laboratories. Matrix PDM designed its first vacuum chamber in the early 60’s in support of the NASA space program, which was just beginning at the time.
Matrix PDM provides comprehensive, multi-discipline engineering solutions with leading industrial expertise in thermal vacuum chambers, specializing in large, field-erected chambers and systems for space simulation testing, fusion energy research, and manufacturing facilities. These facilities can be designed with a variety of vacuum levels, thermal environments (both cryogenic and elevated), degree of vibration isolation, cleanliness levels, and payload handling systems – all tailored to customer requirements. Our chambers can be designed for installation into existing buildings or for new greenfield sites.
In addition to designing thermal vacuum chambers for testing satellites and spacecraft, Matrix PDM has been involved in the design of large vacuum chambers used for fusion energy research.
